Smile Snack Tip #33
When Stress Sneaks Into Your Smile”
We talk about how stress affects sleep, skin, or mood, but your teeth feel it too. 💛
When you’re anxious or tense, your jaw naturally tightens (sometimes even while you sleep).
That can lead to clenching, grinding, headaches, and little “mystery chips” on your teeth that appear out of nowhere. 😬
Here’s how to give your smile some calm:
🧘♀️ 1. Do a jaw check-in.
Unclench, relax your tongue, and gently rest your teeth apart.
🌙 2. Notice morning tension.
If you wake up sore or stiff, you might be grinding in your sleep, a mouthguard can help.
💆♀️ 3. Try gentle jaw massages.
In the morning (or before bed), place your fingers along your cheeks and jawline, and slowly massage in small circles. It helps relax tight muscles and signals your jaw that it’s safe to rest.
☕ 4. Limit caffeine when you’re stressed.
It fuels tension (and dry mouth). Hydration helps more than espresso does here.
Your smile is part of your stress story, so treat it kindly, and let it exhale with you.
💬 Mini Challenge:
Take a deep breath right now and unclench your jaw.
(Your molars just sighed in relief.) 😌

Ha, never knew about the mystery chips on the teeth!
